Western Australia has a population of over 1.8 million people. The economy of Western Australia is dominated by mineral exploitation particularly iron ore and by wheat farming and cattle. Tourism is experiencing growth notably in the north-west around Broome and the Kimberleys.

Perth and West Perth are the two main commercial districts of Western Australia with over 2 million square metres of office space.
